The USB 2.0 Plug on this device provides a way to transfer Data from BOTH the 4 USB 2.0 Ports as well as the Multi-Media Card Reader as well. THE ONE THING YOU MUST BE AWARE OF, IF YOUR MOTHERBOARD COMES WITH A FIREWIRE HEADER IS TO MAKE SURE TO PLUG THE USB 2.0 PLUG INTO ONLY A USB 2.0 HEADER AND NOT THE FIREWIRE HEADER AS THIS WILL PROBABLY BURN UP YOUR MOTHERBOARD!!! Again, READ THE MANUAL!!! They are not that expensive AND they are sold here at NewEgg as well. There are companies that make USB 3.0 Cards (USUALLY PCIe Cards) that come with a 20 Pin Header on it that you can plug the USB 3.0 device into. IF your Motherboard DOES NOT HAVE a USB 3.0 Header there is STILL a way to add one IF you really want one on your system. It is a 20 Pin Header that has ONE PIN Blocked so you CANNOT use it and also so you can ONLY PLUG IT IN ONE WAY!!! The USB 2.0 Headers also have ONE PIN Blocked as well for the same reason. You can USUALLY distinguish the USB 3.0 Header cause they USUALLY color it BLUE (but again, NOT always). Some of the NEWER boards ALSO have a USB 3.0 Header as well. MOST (BUT NOT ALL) Motherboards that are made today usually have anywhere from 2 to 4 USB 2.0 Headers on the Motherboard itself (some have more - others less).
